| In order to be eligible for his rank a pilot must have either gone through advanced Fighter or Bomber school or have successfully demonstrated their ability as a Feldwebel. At this rank a pilot often still flies as a Rottenfuhrer however he is also eligible to become an active Schwarmmfuhrer. At this rank a pilot also becomes eligible to become an Unter-Flugausbilder (Junior Training Officer) in the Luftkriegsschule Staff. | Those pilots who prove their abilities in leading a Schwarmm are promoted to this rank and confirmed in their role as Schwarmmfuhrer. They will often be a senior member of their Staffel and have additional responsibilities as their Staffelkapitain sees fit. |
The rank of Stabsfeldwebel is the highest Non Commissioned Officer rank attainable; as such only one can be present in each Staffel at any one point in time. This pilot is a senior member of the group with a wealth of experience. He is often seen as the "Grandfather of the Staffel". |
